THE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER AT BARUCH
NYS SBDC Logo As part of the New York State Small Business Development Center, the Small Business Development Center at Baruch College is one of the primary ways in which Baruch faculty and staff at the Field Center work directly with entrepreneurs. The SBDC at Baruch serves as a major satellite center of the Albany-based New York State Small Business Development Center (NYS-SBDC). Baruch’s SBDC is staffed by professional business advisors specially trained to serve the needs of New York entrepreneurs. As part of the NYS-SBDC Research Network, our advisors have access to the latest economic, demographic, and regulatory data impacting small business. Located within the Lawrence N. Field Center at Baruch College, faculty and students from Zicklin join alumni, SBDC Advisors and volunteers to support the entrepreneurial endeavors of start-ups and established businesses and the college’s constituents. Since our start in 1993, the Baruch SBDC has worked with 16,664 businesses, helping them to invest $112,835,702 in the area’s economy and create or save 5,676 jobs.
Our lead sponsor is the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in Washington, D.C., an independent government agency that has been helping entrepreneurs fund, launch, and grow their businesses for over fifty years. Through a nationwide network of field offices and partnerships with organizations like ours, the SBA helps strengthen America’s economy, one small business at a time.
We believe in your success and providing high-quality, cutting-edge small business tools and services to help you achieve it. All of our Services are FREE of charge!
The SBDC at Baruch offers small business owners and entrepreneurs free Small Business Counseling with Professional, Academic & Private Sector Experts.
- For Start-ups and Existing Businesses
- Specializing in Business Plan Development and SBA Loan Assistance
- Short- or Long-term Guidance with the Same Team of Advisors
What to Expect: During an individual counseling session business owners can expect to discuss their business idea in detail. The Small Business Advisors will provide recommendations and suggestions on next steps, and how the business owner should organize in order to get their business started. After the first session there will likely be a follow-up session.
How to Prepare: To be best prepared for your visit, we suggest that prospective clients should have some research prepared about the industry, product, service they intend to launch into, including the current competition. However, this is not a requirement. Clients who are at the very early exploratory stages are welcome of course. All counseling sessions are held at Baruch’s Newman Vertical Campus at 24th Street and Lexington Avenue, Room 2-140.
