Sara's Bio

Hi! My name is Sara. I am majoring in English, minoring in History, and plan to graduate in 2013. I am a transfer students and spent my first two years at Kankakee Community College.

I was not sure where I wanted to transfer originally, but now that I am here, I cannot picture myself anywhere else. I come from a very small high school with only 49 students in my graduating class. Naturally, I was nervous about coming to a school with over 30,000 students. I’ve come to realize though, no matter how many students there are at Illinois, the teachers are still attentive to individual needs and it’s easy to meet friends as long as you put yourself out there.

I went to KCC because I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. Now that I have finally transferred, I still don’t know what I want to do, but I am confident in the schools capability to help me plan my future. I am strongly considering going to law school and have joined Illini Mock Trial team. It is a great opportunity to learn the ropes of law and see if it’s a career I want to explore. In addition to mock trial, I work as a transfer mentor with the office of admissions.

For this blog, I want to write about the transition transfer students have to go through and address any questions that people may have about the process.
