Ahead of the opening of Romania’s International Showase exhibition, Minimal Complexity, at Central St. Martin’s new King’s Cross building, a smaller, satellite exhibition will open this month as part of the London Festival of Architecture.
Vlad Tenu is a Romanian architect based in London. His ongoing research focuses on generative computational methods, digital fabrication techniques and interactive design.
His latest protoype in the series, MC/2*, is on show for the duration of the International Architecture & Design Showcase 2012 at the offices of Surface Architects, from 23 June. The concept of creating increasingly complex surfaces with only a few types of types of component is inspired by the principles of self-organisation found in nature, and this is continued with this piece; MC/2* is created with only 2 different types of component, tesselated to form a suprisingly strong structure.
