Charles Lampasso
Director of Aquatics / Men's & Women's Swimming Coach / SAAC Coordinator
Charles Lampasso will begin his seventh year as the Director of Aquatics and Head Men’s & Women’s Swimming Coach.
During his tenure, Baruch swimming has gone from a struggling program to four straight CUNYAC Championships (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13) with the women and three straight for the men (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12).
He has been named CUNYAC Men's Coach of the Year four times, including each of the past three years.
In addition, his teams have re-written a number of school and conference records, as well as more and more athletes each season qualifying for the postseason ECAC Open Championship held in early March.
Lampasso, a native of Queens and a 1989 graduate from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, brings plenty of experience to the position.
From 1996 to June of 2005, he worked as the Aquatic Director for the Flushing YMCA, overseeing a program with 7,000 members and two nationally-ranked swim teams.
He also previously served as an assistant swim coach on the collegiate level with Division II Queens College (Volunteer, 1998-2005), Division I St. John’s University (1990), and his alma mater Division I UNC-Wilmington (Volunteer, 1988-89).
He was an assistant swim coach with the YMCA Flyers “A” & “B” teams, Gotham Aqua Kings, and coached many other swimmers to rankings in both YMCA & United States Swimming.
Lampasso’s coaching efforts were recognized in 2004, as he was named the United States Swimming (USS) Age Group Coach of the Year.
