CUNYAC Announces Championship Tournament Schedule, Begins Wednesday

The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced today the pairings and schedule for the 2011 Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament that will get underway on Wednesday, October 19, with higher seeds hosting quarterfinal round matches.

The Bearcats, the #6 seed in the tournament, will travel to play at #3 seeded York College on Wednesday with first serve scheduled for 3:30 pm.

The winner will advance to the semifinal round on Friday, October 21, at the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center to play the winner of the #2 seeded Hunter versus #7 seeded John Jay College quarterfinal winner.

The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, at the U.S. National Tennis Center. Teams are seeded based upon their final regular season record.

Wednesday, October 19 (at Higher Seeds)
#1 Brooklyn (7-0) vs #8 Lehman (1-6), TBA
#2 Hunter (7-1) vs #7 John Jay (2-6), 4:00 pm
#3 York (5-3) vs. #6 Baruch (3-5) , 3:30 pm
#4 Staten Island  (5-3) vs. #5 CCNY (5-3), 3:30 pm

Friday, October 21 (at U.S. National Tennis Center)
#1/#8 winner vs. #4/#5 winner, 4:00 pm
#2/#7 winner vs. #3/#6 winner, 4:00 pm

Saturday, October 22 (at U.S. National Tennis Center)
Semifinal Winners, 4:00 pm

If it rains on Wednesday, October 19, the quarterfinals will be moved to Thursday, October 20.

The winner of the tournament will earn the CUNYAC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Div. III Championship Tournament, which is scheduled for May 2012.
