Athletics
Student athletics are a big part of life at Illinois and it's easy to get involved as a fan or participant.
Illini Basketball
The Fighting Illini
Fighting Illini football
I-L-L-I-N-I: Illini football games are a fall tradition on campus and a great way to spend a Saturday with friends and family.
Illini fans bleed orange and blue and find pure enjoyment in cheering on our 21 NCAA Division I teams. From gymnastics to golf, it’s more than just football and basketball at Illinois. All of our sports boast elite athletes who are exciting to watch.
Illinois also has some of the best wheelchair athletes in the world. Our adapted athletes can choose to play either basketball or track, and both are amazing to watch.
Students can purchase tickets to any sporting event through the Illinois Ticket Office.
Club Sports
Illini Hockey
Tough is Our Middle Name: Illinois hockey players are tough, but did you know we have a reputation for tough fans too? Go to a hockey game and see what we mean.
Illinois is also home to 48 competitive, traveling club sports. Students try out for these teams and compete at a level similar to Division I/II athletes.
Club sports at Illinois include:
- Men’s Hockey
- Men’s Volleyball
- Men’s and Women’s Soccer
- Intercollegiate Badminton
- Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse
Intramurals
Illinois intramurals
Teammates: Intramurals are a great way to form lasting bonds with your college peers.
Approximately 10-15 intramural sports are available each semester. This is a great way to maintain your athletic background in a fun, competitive environment while meeting other students who have similar interests.
Men's, women's, and co-rec leagues are available. Organize your own team with friends, floor mates, clubs, or even strangers. If you don't have a team, sign up as a free agent and we will help you find one.
Illini Pride
Krannert Center's outdoor theatre
Orange Nation: Illini Pride is the biggest (and brighest) organization on campus with the best fans in the world.
Join Illini Pride, the ultimate student fan club that integrates sports with philanthropy. Illini Pride members raise money on an individual basis to pay for their discounted tickets to football and/or men’s basketball events.
Illini Pride is the "biggest and best" student organization on campus, boasting nearly 2,800 members this year alone! It supports all varsity athletic sports and provides a way for students to cheer on their Fighting Illini, get involved on campus, and meet new people.
Being a part of Illini Pride is a great way to spread enthusiasm for our Fighting Illini, maintain the honor and tradition that has followed Illini Athletics, and give back to the community.
