Options for Earning Credit

Illinois recognizes the value of these options. However, you should be aware that there are times when it is in your best interest to take the Illinois course that corresponds to the AP or IB credit instead of accepting the test-based credit. Doing so can better prepare you for the rigors of the subsequent courses in the sequence.

You will consult with your academic advisor during Summer Registration to determine what will be most appropriate for your individual plan of study.

Before summer registration, you will take departmental proficiency exams in math, chemistry, or physics, if you wish to try to proficiency out of an introductory course.
